ANU-Animals Need Us

We are a group of volunteers from Brasov, we are an official organization from 29 march 2011, which is called The Animal Protection Organization “ANU-Animals Need Us” Brasov. The group consists of about 15 active members and growing. Some of the earlier members have experience in working with animals since the beginning of 2010. alt The main objectives of our association are: - Spaying/neutering the dogs and cats from the streets of Brasov and its surroundings; We have spay more than 140 dogs and more than 80 cats this year just from donations. - Finding adoptive families for the puppies and kitties we find on the streets and also for adults dogs and cats ; Just this year we gave for adoption at list 200 dogs just abroad (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and aprox. 100 dogs in Romania (personally or on the adoption events) and aprox 140 cats. - Educating the general population (adults and children) regarding stray animals and also the animals with owners, the responsibilities that come with owning an animal. So far we have used personal funds and donations (with some help from outside our country -especially Germany). At this moment we have about 70-80 dogs in our constant care, some of them are hosted in our homes, some of them in canine hostel, some on private properties and some of them are still on the streets where we arranged some kind of a dog-house for them and we constantly go and bring them food. And we also have a number of 40 of cats which are hosted in our homes or at the vet. For all of these dogs and cats we are trying to find homes in Romania, mostly Brasov or the surroundings or outside Romania, especially Germany, Austria, Switzerland (but also Finland and Denmark). The main problems that we have to deal with every day are: - We do not have a shelter where we can host the dogs and cats that we find. It is a constant struggle for us to find temporary hosting for them. - Some of our dogs and puppies are hosted in a boarding house which is expensive for us. - We do not have a constant source of donations. We receive donations but most of the time these are not enough and barely cover the cost of every day food, medical treatments, transportation, boarding home and any other unexpected expenses. We pay at the vet monthly 1500-2000 euro for treatments, vaccins, neuterings and acommodation for animals.
